Paris Prosecutor François Molins disclosed some details about the ongoing investigation on the  execution of three Kurdish women in Paris at a press conference he held at the Courthouse on Monday.

The prosecutor stated that the suspect, Ömer Güney, has been arrested today in connection with the killings. He noted that it is yet not clear if the murders were committed by one or more perpetrators. Molins remarked that the suspect has had connections with the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) circles for the last two years, noting that his real role in the organization has not been determined yet.

Molins stated that Sakine Cans?z and Leyla ?aylemez were hit on the head by three bullets each, and Fidan Do?an by four bullets also on the head. He noted that one single weapon was used in the killings and that no indications of scuffle was observed in the office where – he added – nothing appeared to have been moved from its place.
The Prosecutor added they were of the opinion that there was one more person in the office, and refered to four glasses found on the table in the office.

Molins remarked that the suspect, who was said by the media to be a “driver”, had left one of the murdered women to the office on the day of the killings.

The prosecutor also noted that the suspect went in and out of the office several times until midday, once with Cans?z with whom he returned back to the office after buying something. The second time – he added – the suspect left the office alone and went back into the office without entering any code at the door. The prosecutor noted that Fidan Do?an last used her computer at 12:43 and that no connection had been made with the office after that time.

Molins noted that the investigation still continues given that the DNA sample on a bullet casing didn’t match the DNA of suspect Ömer Güney. He also added there is the probability of more than one person involved in the killings. The prosecutor noted that gunshot residue was found in the bag which the suspect was seen carrying in the footages taken from security cameras around the office.

Molins added that Güney gave contradictory statements and did not account for some periods of the day.
