Let’s Tear Down that Wall
A committee from the Human Rights Foundation (?nsan Haklar? Derne?i – ?HD) inspected the wall now rising on the Nusabyin-Qamislo border and made a call to “tear down the wall” on Friday.
A committee comprised of the ?HD Mardin Branch Chairperson Erdal Kuzu, the ?HD Diyarbak?r Branch Chairperson Raci Bilici, and the President of the Mardin Bar Association Azat Y?ld?r?m inspected the border that runs between the town of Nusay?b?n, in Mardin province, and Qami?lo, the largest city in Rojava. Over the past couple of weeks Turkish authories have begun to construct a enforced wall along the border which the public has come to dubb “the wall of shame.” After the inspection, Bilici said that although the people have rejected the current borders countless times, the AKP government and the state are insisting on them. Bilici stated, “By building new walls, [the AKP government] is following a policy that deepens and worsens the current situation. As defenders of human rights, we are saying this: No one benefited from these policies, and no one will.”
Let’s Tear Down the Walls
Bilici emphasized that instead of building walls, the AKP government should tear down the wall diving Kurds, opposition members and other peoples: “If we tear down these walls, it will improve dialogue and the negotiations. This is how you can develop a solution; this is how you can bring piece to the Middle East and Turkey. For this reason we have stated time and time again that we will not accept, we are not accepting [these policies]. Right now behind us they are laying the foundation of a ‘wall of shame’. We will expose this in every instance, every platform. We will oppose this. Because these walls will darken our future. On the contrary they will not serve peace in Turkey. [Or] produce things that will help the peace in Turkey. Let’s tear down these walls – let’s meet, develop dialogue and negotiations.”
Bilici went on to say that they are continuing their investigations in the region, and after meeting the officials, they will prepare a report that will be made avaliable to the public.

Nella provinciale, misera, ignorante Italia e nella sua corrispondente informazione, questa notizia non fa notizia. Si tratta di qualcosa successo in un paese lontano, la Colombia, che per tutti, o quasi, è giusto interpretare e dipingere come un esotico paese violento e drogato. Ma anche di qualcosa che tira in ballo Israele e, dulcis in fundo, il Tribunale di Strasburgo, la massima istanza europea che si occupa e governa sul tema dei diritti umani. Ebbene, cosa ha deciso nei giorni scorsi il Tribunale di Strasburgo? Che sarebbe illegitima l’estradizione di Yair Klein in Colombia dove è richiesto per rispondere del suo passato di istruttore di narcos e paramilitari. Il Tribunale di Strasburgo difende un uomo non europeo: Israele non è un paese europeo. Il Tribunale di Strasburgo si preoccupa di un uomo detenuto in Russia: la Russia è un paese europeo. Comunque il Tribunale di Strasburgo si scomoda a dire la sua. Quello che lascia più sbalordito sono le motivazioni: “i giudici russi non avrebbero preso in considerazioni le dichiarazioni dell’imputato sulle torture alle quali potrebbe essere sottoposto in Colombia”. C’è da ridere, ma anche da scandalizzarsi. L’Europa che non ha mai mosso un dito sulla pratica abitudinaria della tortura, delle sparizioni forzate, degli omicidi extragiudiziari praticati in Colombia contro sindacalisti, attivisti dei diritti umani, leader e militanti politici di opposizione, si preoccupa dei rischi che correrebbe un mercenario che ha insegnato ai narcos e ai paramilitari la pratica della tortura e più in generale del terrore. Il Tribunale di Strasburgo fa finta di non sapere che Yair Klein è ideologicamente affine a coloro che, a partire da Uribe, dominano il paese, anche grazie al suo lavoro sporco. Ma che banda di ipocriti, falsari e, forse – per qualcuno dei suoi componenti anche ignoranti- è mai questo cosiddetto Tribunale?
