The Turkish military is attacking Kurdish civilians in Kobane

The Kobane Reconstruction Board- Europe has sent this report about the situation in Kobane, Rojava.

The civilians in Kobane started a peaceful protest on the Turkey-Kobane border on the 24th of August when Turkey started to build a cement wall and commenced the invasion of Jerablus in north Syria.

Today, September 2, at 9:30 am local time, when the people again returned to the border to continue their peaceful protest, the Turkish military crossed the border and attacked the civilians with tear gas, water cannons and bullets. *Until now 41 civilians have been injured and one 19 year old man was killed when he was shot in the head.*

Currently the Turkish military and snippers are placed and targeting the civilians.

After this attack, thousands of Kobane civilians have now moved to the border to condemn the attacks. The situation remains critical.

Kobane is the city that engaged in a historic resistance against the invading brutal ISIS terrorists in 2014. It has been at the forefront of the resistance and wins against ISIS terrorists in northern Syria.

As a result of the ongoing success of the Kurdish people through the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the People’s protection units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) against ISIS and other terrorist organisations, the Turkish state has demonstrated increasingly belligerent tendencies, including the recent invasion of Syrian territory.

*This latest attack against the people of Kobane should be condemned in the strongest terms by the international community and all who stand for peace and ending of ISIS terrorism. *

*We call on all the democratic forces to stand against the Turkish invasion and condemn the Turkish attacks and to stand with solidarity with the people of Rojava and Kobane.  *

*We ask all the international institutions to cut all military and economic relations with Turkey until it ceases its invasion and attacks against the people of north Syria.*
