Presentation of the Global Rights report at College of Europe

On March 29, the presentation of Fight Impunity’s annual report on the state of impunity in the world, in collaboration with SocietàInformazione Onlus, was held at the College of Europe in Bruges.

The Rector and honorary board member of Fight Impunity, Federica Mogherini, opened the debate and then gave the floor to MEP Isabel Santos, co-author of the report, and journalist Orsola Casagrande, also one of the authors of the report and representative of Società INformazione .

Professor and Vice-Dean of KU Leuven University Stephan Parmentier and Senior Consultant Public International Law & Policy Group Marieke de Hoon contributed to the discussion on the importance of transitional justice.

How to fight impunity, finding a new approach to human rights and strengthening transitional justice were the key themes of a lively and interesting debate that saw the students of the College particularly involved. The conclusions were drawn by the president of Fight Impunity, Antonio Panzeri.

It was a useful moment of exchange, in which our organization talked to some young people. After all, George Bernanos said that: “it is the fever of youth that keeps the rest of the world at a normal temperature. When youth cools down, the rest of the world beats its teeth”.

Human rights and the fight against impunity cannot and must not be topics to be locked away in the freezer.
