Gaza ‘CEASEFIRE’? “Death, in Slow Motion” or…“Happy” “New” Year, Gaza…

“Borrowing the words of Indian writer Arundhati Roy, ‘I tell you, another

world is not only possible. She is on the way. And on a quiet day, I can hear

her breathing. I hope you can hear her, too.’” Francesca Albanese

What better way to bury our dead

than plant their silence

in fields filled with words like flowers

freed from the lies of thieves and murderers

with their highly-paid diplomats

of greed and famine and fear?

What better way, now, to lift this

mountain of rubble we carry on

over-burdened shoulders

(our collective history of shame and

cruelty and carnage)

than to dance with the “laughter of children

chasing their amputated feet out

far beyond these endless nightmares?

The days pass.

Yet day after day

the crazed-soldiers still come.

The people keep on dying.

As if Death could not ever find enough food

to feed on the lives and dreams of so many…

Shad Hammouri

“I stand in front of you today

coming from a long struggle

with the blood of those we’ve lost

over a struggle

that has lasted for over a hundred years…”

The days have passed

… as if all the Dead

could somehow open their mouths,

release the pain, their unfinished farewells,

this unfinished silence of broken bodies trapped

beneath the 2,000-pound-MK-84 U.S. bombs

“…a struggle that has culminated

into a moment of genocide

where even getting one loaf of bread into Gaza

requires changing the whole of the geopolitical order.”

while the businessmen and the real-estate-men,

rub their greedy hands with glee

“in Israel, where social media and news

channels routinely chortle over the suffering

of Palestinians” (Chris Hedges)

…as if their plans and bank balances

could bring 20,000 children back to life.

2

Now is the time

to change:

the whole of the geopolitical order

3

what better way

to lift our head from our hands

what better way to see on end to

this enormous mountain of garbage

with its spineless “leaders”

its rabbis and preachers and politicians

without heart or soul or conscience

telling us another war will end all wars

telling us the killing cannot stop

the Dead will always seek revenge

promising us their only truth – the Market,

this unholy God – of profit and loss

and now, and here, where

even getting one loaf of bread into Gaza”

must change

“the whole of the geopolitical order.”

4

Enough! Basta!

Even the silenced corpse complains.

5

And so

from the River to the Sea

welcome to this war that never ends

this war we ourselves must now end!

not the generals nor the businessmen,

not the presidents, not the powerful

watch them all, at twilight, with

their suits and ties and briefcases walk

bare-naked into their broken Bunkers

as they pass these ghosts

on their rightful way home…

“…and for a future that awaits me

amidst the rubble of life.” (Donya Abu Sitta)

Ceasefire”: “the genocide that continues through other means:”

Francesca Albanese – Channel 4, December 11, 2025

“Death in slow motion”

“Israel has committed 738 violations of the ceasefire agreement between October 10th and December 12th, including 358 land and air bombardments, the killing of at least 383 Palestinians, and the injuring of 1,002 others, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza, and the Palestinian Health Ministry. That’s an average of six Palestinians killed daily in Gaza, down from an average of 250 a day before the ceasefire. Israel said it killed a senior Hamas commander, Raed Saed, on Saturday in a missile strike on a car on Gaza’s coastal road. Three others were also apparently killed in the strike. The genocide is not over. Yes, the pace has slowed, but the intent remains unchanged. It’s slow motion killing.” [4:43 – 5:31]

“Kushner’s so-called “Deal of the Century” contained a shocking sub-plan: to turn parts of Gaza into a “Singapore on the Mediterranean” or a “Gaza Riviera.” At first glance it sounds like an escape from poverty; in reality, it is a blueprint for erasure. Palestinians would be reduced to low-wage service workers on their own dispossessed land while investors and foreign regimes extract profits. This is textbook “accumulation by dispossession” (David Harvey): transforming a people’s suffering into an opportunity for Capital. His slogan resembled this sound: The Gaza Riviera: From Open-Air Prison to Tourist Playground” Middle East Monitor –  October, 2025

…walk

bare-naked into their broken Bunkers

Miami’s Billionaire Bunker – Forbes – June, 2024

“Having spent millions on extending life spans, reversing ageing and planning bespoke trips to space, the latest trend for the ultra-rich is doomsday prepping in the form of massive underground bunkers. Yes, while the rest of us fight it out Mad Max style, the rich will be living comfortably beneath the surface.”

BBC Science Focus – July, 2025

Finally: Hope for the future?

“In this sense, Kushner’s vision of Gaza as a Riviera is not the future. It is the last gasp of a dying order—a real estate brochure for a colonialism that no longer has a moral home. The West, facing its own crises of inequality and legitimacy, may indeed return to its own barbarity, as you put it. But the seeds of an alternative are germinating elsewhere: a world where peoples rather than empires decide the fate of their lands.

“This is all a mirage and this mirage will dissolve. The tragedy is that Palestinians and other Arabs will suffer greatly before this order collapses. But collapse it will. Because no “deal,” however glossy, can overwrite the reality that a people cannot be bribed or coerced out of their history. Kushner’s “know-nothing” schemes are part of a larger theft masquerading as peace, but they will be remembered as such—and resisted as such. In the long arc of history, the “Gaza Riviera” will stand not as a triumph but as a mirage: a symbol of imperial arrogance dissolving under the heat of justice.” Ranjon Solomon writes…

‘Kushner’s Mirage’ – MEE – October 26, 2025

Mustafa Barghouti, (secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative):

“During the last two years, we had 85,000 young new children born in Gaza. And they survived because of the heroism of the Palestinian medical teams and health teams that continue to work. In the West Bank  regardless of all these attacks, people are so resilient and determined to stay in Palestine. And what gives me hope are the peoples of the world, not the governments unfortunately, but many, many peoples of the world who are standing now with the Palestinian people, including, by the way, a very huge majority of young Americans in the United States.” [4:49 – 5:26]

Al Jazeera – December, 29, 2025

Resistance-Rebellion?

Francesca Albanese: “Many many more states and bold actions follow. So that together we might stop the massacre of the Palestinian people once and for all and in so doing lay the foundation for a more just and global order. Millions are part of this growing movement. Some with intent and clarity, others just with rage or despair, not yet mobilized. But it’s just a matter of time. Borrowing the words of Indian writer Arundhati Roy, I tell you, another world is not only possible. She is on the way. And on a quiet day, I can hear her breathing. I hope you can hear her, too.” []4:03 – 4:38
