Ivan Marquez: We got the wind in our sails
On the second day of the X Guerrilla Conference, Comandante Ivan Marquez spoke to the press and said the conference “is a great success. We are sailing with the wind in our sails”. Marquez said the guerrillas have been analysing the 30 thesis proposed for discussion. “Most of them – Marquez said – deals with the Agreements reached in Havana”.
The chief of the Peace Delegation of the FARC-EP also underlined that guerrillas have suggested many names for the new political movement which will result from the FARC transition from war to peace. “All of the names proposed by guerrillas – he said – are inspiring and beautiful and it could not be different as guerrillas always speak from their heart”.
Marquez also underlined the importance of the “confidence gesture made by the Government that allowed 24 political prisoners to leave prison in order to participate to the Tenth Guerrilla Conference. “Things are working – said Marquez – and we are preparing to go to Cartagena on 26 September to sign the Final Peace Agreement”.
