Pro-Kurdish deputy sentenced to 8 years over PKK membership

(Photo: Today’s Zaman) 18 September 2012 / TODAYSZAMAN.COM , Sebahat Tuncel, a deputy from the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), was sentenced to eight years, nine months in prison by an ?stanbul court on Tuesday on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
The court also issued an international travel ban for Tuncel.
The pro-Kurdish deputy, who was jailed for membership in the PKK, was released after being elected as a deputy for Parliament in 2007.
