A KIRKUK VINCE ALLAWI
I primi risultati nella regione di Kirkuk danno per vincitore l’ex premier iracheno Iyad Allawi. Se i risultati saranno confermati il futuro della regione (contesa tra arabi, turcomanni e kurdi) potrebbe prendere una svolta inattesa. Con il 61% delle schede scrutinate, Allawi avrebbe ottenuto 123,862 voti. L’alleanza kurdistania, 120,664 e Goran 20,152. Kirkuk elegge 13 parlamentari nel consiglio dei rappresentanti (325 membri). Il primo ministro Nouri al-Maliki e la sua coalizione sono in testa a Baghdad, Basra, Najaf, Karbala.

Passionate speeches were delivered by Diyarbak?r former MP and candidate Leyla Zana and by candidates Altan Tan, ?erafettin Elçi, Nursel Aydo?an and Emine Ayna.
Strong and passionate Leyla Zana asked the chanting crowd: “They ask me why Kurds always chant slogan say ‘Bijî serok Apo’ [Up president Apo]” referring to Kurdish imprisoned leader Abdullah Ocalan. “Well – she added – because nobody has been able to organize this people in the same way he did. He managed to unite the Kurdish people under the same umbrella. That’s why Kurds are so tie to him”.
