HDP Demirtaş sentenced to five months in prison

While HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ was denied her right to continue as a deputy, HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş has been sentenced to 5 months in prison.

The sentence was handed down after the hearing of the case at Doğubayazıt 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance today, Tuesday 21 February.
Demirtaş was sentenced to 5 months in prison on charges of “humiliating the Turkish nation, Turkish Republic state and institutions of the state”.
