Grave built for 133 PKK guerrillas

A monumental grave has been constructed in the village of Yukar? Olek (Olaka Jorê) in the province of Bitlis for 130 PKK (Kurdistan Worker’s Party) militants who were buried in the area at different times.

The monumental grave, “Xerzan Martyrs’ Cemetery”, was opened on Friday with a ceremony joined by thousands coming from Bitlis and neighboring provinces, including BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) deputies Özdal Üçer, Nazmi Gür and Hüsamettin Zenderlio?lu, BDP central executive board member  Saadet Becerikli, BDP Party Assembly member S?rr? Sever as well as many executives and members of the BDP  Mu?, Bitlis, Siirt, Tatvan, Eruh, Varto, Bulan?k, Erentepe, Güroymak, Malazgirt, Belenoluk (He?êt) organizations.

Speaking here on behalf of Peace Mothers Initiative, Nefise Mete voiced mothers’ demand for the ending of the conflict and the construction of a lasting and dignified peace.

Speaking after, BDP deputy Özdal Üçer said that;“It is thanks to the prices we have paid until today that we have come to these days on these lands. Our people continue to give a struggle in four parts of Kurdistan today as well. We will not give up this struggle until we attain our freedom”.

Referring to the democratic resolution process in search of a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question, Üçer said that the AKP government tried to sabotage this process and displayed an unserious approach since the beginning of the talks between the Turkish state and Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. “Sabotaging this process means betraying the history”, Üçer underlined.
