Con un comunicato recapitato in video, audio e testo ai giornali GARA e Berria, ETA ha annunciato la fine permanente della lotta armata.

Declaracio?n de ETA
Euskadi Ta Askatasuna, organizacio?n socialista revolucionaria vasca de liberacio?n nacional, desea mediante esta Declaracio?n dar a conocer su decisio?n:
ETA considera que la Conferencia Internacional celebrada recientemente en Euskal Herria es una iniciativa de gran trascendencia poli?tica. La resolucio?n acordada reu?ne los ingredientes para una solucio?n integral del conflicto y cuenta con el apoyo de amplios sectores de la sociedad vasca y de la comunidad internacional.
En Euskal Herria se esta? abriendo un nuevo tiempo poli?tico. Estamos ante una oportunidad histo?rica para dar una solucio?n justa y democra?tica al secular conflicto poli?tico. Frente a la violencia y la represio?n, el dia?logo y el acuerdo deben caracterizar el nuevo ciclo. El reconocimiento de Euskal Herria y el respeto a la voluntad popular deben prevalecer sobre la imposicio?n. Ese es el deseo de la mayori?a de la ciudadani?a vasca.
La lucha de largos an?os ha creado esta oportunidad. No ha sido un camino fa?cil. La crudeza de la lucha se ha llevado a muchas compan?eras y compan?eros para siempre. Otros esta?n sufriendo la ca?rcel o el exilio. Para ellos y ellas nuestro reconocimiento y ma?s sentido homenaje.
En adelante, el camino tampoco sera? fa?cil. Ante la imposicio?n que au?n perdura, cada paso, cada logro, sera? fruto del esfuerzo y de la lucha de la ciudadani?a vasca. A lo largo de estos an?os Euskal Herria ha acumulado la experiencia y fuerza necesaria para afrontar este camino y tiene tambie?n la determinacio?n para hacerlo.
Es tiempo de mirar al futuro con esperanza. Es tiempo tambie?n de actuar con responsabilidad y valenti?a.
Por todo ello,
ETA ha decidido el cese definitivo de su actividad armada. ETA hace un llamamiento a los gobiernos de Espan?a y Francia para abrir un proceso de dia?logo directo que tenga por objetivo la resolucio?n de las consecuencias del conflicto y, asi?, la superacio?n de la confrontacio?n armada. ETA con esta declaracio?n histo?rica muestra su compromiso claro, firme y definitivo.
ETA, por u?ltimo, hace un llamamiento a la sociedad vasca para que se implique en este proceso de soluciones hasta construir un escenario de paz y libertad.

ETA’s DECLARATION
With this declaration, Euskadi Ta Askatasuna, the Basque socialist revolutionary organization for national liberation, wishes to give news of its decision:
ETA considers that the International Conference that has recently taken place in the Basque Country is an initiative of enormous significance. The agreed resolution includes all the elements for an integral solution of the conflict, and it has attained the support of a wide spectrum of the basque society and the international community.
A new political time is emerging in the Basque Country. We have an historical opportunity to find a just and democratic solution for the centuries old political conflict. Dialogue and agreement should outline the new cycle, over violence and repression. The recognition of the Basque Country and the respect for the will of the people should prevail over imposition.
This has not been an easy way. The cruelty of the fight has taken away the lives of many comrades. Many others are still suffering in prison and in the exile. For them our recognition and deepest tribute.
From now on the way is neither going to be easy. Facing the imposition that still exists, every step, every achievement, will be the result of the effort and fight of basque citizens. During these years the Basque Country has accumulated the necessary experience and strength to address this path and it also has the determination for doing it. It is time to look at the future with hope. It is also time to act with responsibility and courage.
Therefore, ETA has decided the definitive cease of its armed activity. ETA calls upon the Spanish and French governments to open a process of a direct dialogue with the aim of addressing the resolution of the consequences of the conflict and, thus, to overcome the armed confrontation. Thorough this historical declaration ETA shows its clear, solid and definitive commitment.
Lastly, ETA calls upon the basque society to commit with this process of solutions until we build a context of freedom and peace.
